Blood Thinner XARELTO Causes Severe Injuries

What Is Xarelto?

Xarelto is a prescription blood thinner that is prescribed to reduce blood clotting.  Unfortunately, Xarelto is also a potentially dangerous drug that has caused significant injuries to patients taking it.

How Does Xarelto Cause Injuries?

Xarelto can cause excessive internal bleeding and hemorrhaging that cannot be reversed with an antidote. Xarelto is different from other blood thinners because where other drugs used for similar purposes cause excessive bleeding, Vitamin K can stop the bleeding.  Thus, when a patient who has taken Xarelto begins to bleed, nothing can be done to stop the internal bleeding, and the patients have suffered immensely and have even died.  Patients who have suffered from the bad side effects of Xarelto have experienced GI bleeding, excessive blood loss,  brain and eye hemorrhages, and infection of wounds.

What Are the Symptoms of Internal Bleeding?

Symptoms of internal bleeding include:

  • vomiting
  • signs of a stroke
  • loss of vision
  • unconsciousness
  • bleeding of the mouth, nose, ears, anus, vagina or urethra
  • black stools
  • decreased mental function

Who Manufactures Xarelto?

Bayer and Janssen Pharmaceuticals is the maker of the drug Xarelto.

What Are the Basis of the Xarelto Lawsuits?

Xarelto lawsuits are based on the allegations that Bayer and Janssen have been misleading in its marketing of Xarelto by failing to warn patients about the serious side effects of Xarelto.  Even after the FDA notified Bayer and Janssen about their misleading marketing methods, the drug manufacturer continued to market Xarelto in a dishonest way, without giving patients sufficient warnings about the dangers of Xarelto.

Another basis for claims against the Xarelto maker is that Xarelto should not have been sold to the public without an antidote.  Further, allegations of negligence against the manufacturer include the failure to advise that patients taking Xarelto should be monitored.
